Spooky ! Is someone following me around taking similar photos to me and then having them used in magazines? Over the last six months or so the covers of various photographic mags have all featured photo very similar to one I have taken a few months previously. First there was a nice one of Porth Nanven at the foot of the Cot Valley using a slow shutter speed to blur the sea on the rocks, then there was a sunset at Godrevy. The latest is on the cover of this months Practical Photography featuring an old Rover 100, very much like one I took earlier in the year - same model of car, same colour and using a similar technique. Now Porth Nanven and Godrevy I can just about understand - almost everyone must have taken a photo of them at some time so other people taking similar pictures is understandable, but that Rover 100. How many of them can there be in a derelict state and tucked away down a country lane, see below - spooky!
Vicky in narrow win at Pengegon Show Once again Carnkie Camera Club members dominated the field at a local show taking the vast majority of places in the Photographic Section. It was a very close run thing but Vicky edged ahead to win by the narrowest of margins. The results as they affect Carnkie Camera Club Members are shown below: ![]() Vicky won the cup for "Most points in photography section" and cup for "Best portrait" BrianP won the cup for "Best exhibit in photography section" for the entry in the "Water Movement Category" (and there wasn't a lighthouse in sight). Carnkie Camera Club members well placed at Brea Show Club members did well again in another village show, with BrianP taking four first places and being awarded the trophy for most points in section. Carole coming a very respectable and close second. The full results for club members are shown below ![]() Constitution Adopted The proposed constitution was put to the membership at the meeting of the club on 29th July as was adopted. The constitution will not affect the way the club operates, the it mearly formalises what is already accepted practice and will allow the club to apply for an bank account and obtain public liability insurance. Lisa shows the way as Camera Club do Well at Lanner Lisa led the way at the Lanner Show scooping three first prizes, a third and fourth in the eight available classes and taking the special "best in show" award for her show jumping dogs. BrianP also took a first and two seconds. Carole and Christine were also placed in two categories with Bob also picking up a second. The full results (as far as I could interpret them from the rather complicated system), are show below. ![]() Lisa picked up the award for best photo in show, there didn't seem to be an award for most points in the Photography section, or she would have won that as well. Close run thing at Lelant Show Carnkie Camera Club members, Lisa and BrianP between them swept the board at Lelant Show this week. Both came first in four of the available classes, and both came second in another two. It was a very close run thing as to who would win the cup for best overall. In the end it came down to the Judges decision to award BrianP a Special Award for the best overall photo for his entry in the 'Aspects of Nature' class for his close-up picture of a dragonfly. BrianP was also awarded 'Highly commended' for his entries in the 'Portrait' and 'Architecture' classes. The full results for Carnkie Club Members were: ![]() Total Points 19 16 Mining Festival 2009 Carnkie Camera Club has been invited to stage an exhibition of work as part of the annual Mining festival from Fri 7th to Sunday 9th August.
